Where does the energy or force come from that lifts water against gravity up a paper towel by capillary action
Oct 21st
Question by Dr. J.: Where does the energy or force come from that lifts water against gravity up a paper towel by capillary action Water has mass and therefore requires a force to lift it up against gravity. It seems possible that when water falls, it creates a spring-loaded surface potential energy, which causes the meniscus. However, once this possible potential energy springs water up onto the paper towel, it is consumed, and further climbing up a paper towel, as high as three or four inches, seems “inexplicable.” Is there a M Super Symmetric String Theory explanation, using gravitons More >
Does lifting weights underwater require more or less energy than lifting above water?
Oct 20th
Question by Broseidon: Does lifting weights underwater require more or less energy than lifting above water? Basically I just want to know if lifting weights under water would build muscle more quickly. Maybe due to the increased resistance, I don’t know… So it’s easier, but do your muscles end up doing the same amount of work?
Best answer:
Answer by Brendanno, its easier to do under water

Question by Typhon: How much energy do u need to boil water and how much energy was realesed from the atomic bomb? Doing a history project! At STP The water is at 0 degrees celcius
Best answer:
Answer by the_knivetonThe amount of enerdy it takes to boil water depends on several diffrent factors. However, the amount of energy needed to raise 1 gram of water 1′ Celcius is called a calorie (the same unit of measurment used in food. More calories in food= more energy required to break that food down). To find how much energy it will take to boil More >
Why does the kinetic energy of water increase when it melts from ice to liquid?

Hot water on demand using tankless hot water heaters
The two systems used for heating hot water are water heaters that store a volume of pre-heated water and tankless hot water on demand systems which heat and supply hot water when you require it.
Lets look at tankless hot water on demand heaters and some of the things you need to consider prior to making your final purchase decision.
Because the water is being heated instantaneously, there are a number of important issues that need to be considered before and during system selection:
On demand hot water systems are power hungry. They need More >
