Nov 18th
Question by Jenny: Will I save money if I replace my 1978 hot water heater with a newer energy efficient electric one? My electric bills are outrageous and wondered if my old hot water heater may be a contributing factor. It still heats water very well and is not leaking. The old one is also electric.
Best answer:
Answer by TrekkerScoutThere is probably so much scale buildup inside the old water heater that I would be surprised if it was running at even 50% of its original efficiency. You would most definitely save money with the purchase of a new water heater.

When are we going to get off of using water to convert energy.. isn’t there a more efficient way?
Nov 12th
Question by pip: When are we going to get off of using water to convert energy.. isn’t there a more efficient way? We’ve been stuck on steam since the steam engine.. nuclear and coal use steam to turn turbines.. I’m sure fusion (when it’s mastered) will most likely be used to heat water for the same means… the only ones that don’t use water to transfer the energy are combustion fuels such as gasoline, solar and wind.. has anyone tried to find ways to convert things such as nuclear directly into usable energy instead of going threw the medium More >

Is that even possible? Yes, I did spell “dam” wrong. 1/3 isn’t bad though. Let’s stay on topic.
