Which renewable energy form has the least amount of negative impact on the envioronment?
Feb 5th
Question by somber_pieces: Which renewable energy form has the least amount of negative impact on the envioronment? Solar is nice, but how much energy & chemicals are used to make the solar panels. Geothermal is nice too, except along with the steam comes the other nasty byproducts that come up with the steam, depending upon where the steam is coming from. Wind is nice too, but what about the cost, energy & materials used to make a single 50 kilowatt turbine. Ocean-thermal is nice too, but vulnerable to storms & needs to be degunked often. Is the climate change issue really about a push for renewable energy?
Jan 30th
Question by Ottawa Mike: Is the climate change issue really about a push for renewable energy? Here is the scenario as I see it: We are being told to reduce CO2 emissions because they will contribute to catastrophic anthropogenic global warming. To achieve that, we are basically being told (forced?) to reduce coal and oil as energy sources and replace them with solar, wind, ocean (wave) power and biofuels.
So I have ask myself, what about shale gas and nuclear power as options? A recent IPCC report on renewable energy fails to mention either option: http://srren.ipcc-wg3.de/report/srren-spm-fd4 Donna Laframbois gives this interesting commentary More >

The Energy Revolution We Can’t Miss – Alternative & Renewable Energy
Article by James Veach
The time has come for all Americans to take hold of the reigns and charge forward when it comes to alternative and renewable energy. There are many different energy sources in this vast world we live in and we need to start using them as a whole.
We have the technology to use the wind, sun, ocean, river and streams, and much more to produce the energy we need to live on a daily basis.

Question by : Identify the risks and benefits of extracting or using one type of nonrenewable and one type of renewable ener? Identify the risks and benefits of extracting or using one type of nonrenewable and one type of renewable energy resource from the Pacific Ocean up the California coastline, or in areas near that ecosystem.
Best answer:
Answer by VikSolar Power, does not have to be extracted and the supplies to make solar panels are fairly common. Oil, must be harvested from deep underground, is flammable, and can pollute the environment if a leak occurs. Hope this helps!

How can we run out of a renewable resource?
Jan 3rd
Question by : How can we run out of a renewable resource? We never lose any water on this planet. It’s always recycled. So why all the crap about water conservation? If we run out of fresh water then we can distill ocean water. I don’t get it. It seems more like an energy issue to me but then don’t frame it as “running out of a precious resource”
Best answer:
Answer by BekkoniDistillation takes much more energy and time than is cost effective for what you get out of it, so it isn’t really a viable option. The problem is that deserts More >
