The Human Side of Science: What is the Archetypal Researcher Personality?
Dec 24th
ARLINGTON, VA (PRWEB) December 16, 2004
Are there some personalities that are better suited than others to a scientific career? To provide insight into this issue, The Science Advisory Board created the first-ever psychological profile of life science researchers, the Scientific Personality Assessment (SPA).
The SPA is meant to help scientists better evaluate their strengths and assets as well as confront the particular challenges they face in their everyday work life. The goal is not to suggest that one personality type is better than another or that having specific character traits will engender more professional success, but rather to encourage More >
Programming an AI personality into a Robot?
Sep 18th
Question by Rydacasada: Programming an AI personality into a Robot? I’m kinda weak when it comes to robotics and programming Artificial Intelligence technology. I came up with a goal to build a robotic companion that would work as an assistant both in robotic form and program form with a personality, but I don’t know how to do that. So my questions are; How can I create such an AI personality? How can I move it from a computer to a robotic body? Will distance learning suit my personality?
In the past distance learning or home study was a rather solitary experience. Students usually had minimal communication with tutors, and interaction with other students was almost unheard of. Distance learning students now have an entire armoury of communications tools at their disposal, whether More >

I’m 23 years old and I had a rough year because of the economy which led to me being unemployed. My car broke down and I had to drop out of college.
I’m going back to college in 2009 and want to keep an open mind to finding the right career/education for me.

Does Darth Vader meet the diagnostic criteria for Borderline Personality Disorder?
Jun 10th
In a brazen act of arm-chair diagnosis, Eric Bui and colleagues at Toulouse University Hospital in France have written a short academic article arguing that the Star Wars character Darth Vader probably meets the diagnostic criteria for borderline personality disorder (BPD). The authors point to Anakin Skywalker’s (as he was originally known) life history, including fatherly absence, early maternal separation and infantile illusions of omnipotence. They go on to claim that Skywalker meets six of the formal nine DSM (diagnostic and statistical manual) criteria for BPD: ‘He presented impulsivity and difficulty controlling his anger and alternated between idealisation and devaluation More >
