Question by snoopdogg’s lil brother: What would be a better long term career, An electrician or renewable energy technician? I’m 22 and I need to do something with my life. The salaries of the two careers are around the same, but I want a job that will last. Renewable energy is suppose to be big in the future, but I’m sure how many jobs will be available. Any suggestions?

Answer by Carl_the_TruthI’d go with a sure thing, an electrician. Union jobs pay high, and with benefits.

When you go to school to learn a TRADE, ie electrician or HVAC technology does it count as a degree?

I am considering going to a class at votech or taking an online course. But no where do I find what type of actual certification I will have at the end. The Vo-tech class is 2 years. The online class is 20 months or as fast as I can learn the material. Can anyone give me some advice on the subject?
