Question by James: What’s so controversial about using Off the shelf technology in our military hardware? It would safe us tons of money. I read somewhere a tomahawk redone using off the shelf technology would cost like 500,000$ compared to it’s usual 800,000$ price.

Answer by DrewReally nothing, and defense companies do this all the time when they can. The cost savings are the biggest benefits, and all the off the shelf components have to go rigorous testing so that can be shown to be suitable for military applications (ability to withstand harsh environment, vibration, etc).

Answer by *Gailann*I believe it is controversial because many women can’t fathom the idea of giving away a part of them they carried for 9 months, regardless if biologically related or not. Additionally, it is a very emotional subject, regardless of ones opinion on the subject. Emotional for the surrogate giving up the child and emotional for the childless couples who want a child so much they will trust another woman with such an intimate ordeal as surrogacy.
