Question by Ottawa Mike: Is the climate change issue really about a push for renewable energy? Here is the scenario as I see it: We are being told to reduce CO2 emissions because they will contribute to catastrophic anthropogenic global warming. To achieve that, we are basically being told (forced?) to reduce coal and oil

Image by nate_kie Question by WeatherRusty: How Can Climate Decades into the Future be Predicted When Weather Forecasts Beyond 3 Days Are Unreliable? Weather forecasting is an initial conditions problem. Climate forecasting is a boundary condition problem. Initial condition that define the current state of the atmosphere are updated with every iteration of a forecast

Oh HELL no.
I think all liberals should move to Mars and prove that they can change the climate.
(And when all liberals have made the move, we should defund the program and leave them there. What have you got to lose? You KNOW you can do it.)

You do not have a clue regarding the subject you are trying to address. Facts are frequently elusive for Liberals. You should work on that kid.

Why don’t you and Al Gore go there and get started on this. Use your own money.

Only 100,000 years? – and you wonder why adults are skeptical of scientists who claim man causes GW here on earth?

Its not just “republican “scientists, just about every reputable scientists in the world has either recanted or modified thier views of the Global Warming scare they started some years ago.
Day by day we find out more information concerning the lies, the political influencing and sell outs the enviromental community has been. And now that the truth is emerging from your shield of lies your upset ?
How many reputable scientists lives has this movement ruined ? And i’m not talking about the sell outs, i’m talking the ones that saw this as the hoax it is. They had thier grants pulled, they were personally threatened and basically thrown out of the laboratories for trying to honestly get down to the truth of the matter.
As for terraforming Mars, GL with that, we’ve been researching wind power for decades, but only delivered 1% at most production, we’ve had a global conspiracy trying to force change on us all based on global warming BS yet the truth prevailed, we’ve had many people try to bring about a new tomorrow, but couldn’t deliver since they either lied, over-reaching or pissed off too many people to even care about it. Your talking about an effort that would be arduous labor and expensive. I doubt the likes of you have what it takes since you can’t even admit the truth about climate change here on Earth.
Global warming was easy, all you had to do was prove temps were going up. But climate change ? Climate is always changing….which scientist is fool enough to step up and claim they know exactly what is ‘normal’ climate and what is abnormal, must less be able to prove what caused the abnormality.
You have just about as much chance of terraforming Mars as you have making liberals stop lying and chasing after fool hardy agendas

I wish they’d pump some green house gases down here in Alabama because it’s f****ing cold!!

Isn’t this a deliberate misquote?
I believe most of the critics don’t claim it is impossible for humans to affect the environment, I believe they are claiming that the case that we *are* changing it right now has not been firmly proved.
The flaw in your argument is that CO2 is not a “super green house gas”. Even though Mars’s atmosphere is thin compared to earth, it has 25 times the CO2 than the earth does, and Mars is still frozen. I could go on but you probably have no use for facts.

Republicans are Retards! Just look at Sarah Palin!
They where called Green House Gases before Al Gore came along with his little book and movie.

Republicants are not going to give up on that boondoggle. There is way to much money to be made on that one. They are still trying to sell the country on the “star wars” nonsense.
I think this country needs to stop throwing away so much into the sky! That’s what I think. People down here could use that money! If you want to move to Mars, then just go ahead and do it! The ones who don’t want to go can stay here and live in peace once you are gone. “Secede” to Mars! “Secede” to Mars! Bye!

Even if Mars could somehow be made habitable it would have to be artificially maintained. The orbit of Mars is outside of the Goldilocks zone, too far away from the sun and is a frigid desert. Also, Mars is subject to the full force of solar winds and cosmic radiation, it doesn’t have a strong magnetic field.
Just because Republicans say that humans can not effect climate change on Earth does not mean that we can not effect climate conditions. By terraforming Mars, we would not be changing the climate itself, but the conditions. I also think that we should be more worried with the situation on Earth now than a situation on Mars in 100,000 years.
