Q&A: A question about electrical engineers?

Question by ArmedSquirrel: A question about electrical engineers?
I have done a little self-evaluation and have found what I wouldn’t mind doing for the rest of my life if I had to.
I’d like to do electrical engineering focusing on RF technology. I’d like to apply said technology to “green” fronts, so that I test, develop, build, and design the technology to be used in the environment. Along the way, I want to personally use math like calculus and physics regularly.
Doing this would give me the opportunity to spend hopefully 20 hours of a 40 hour week outdoors studying the technology in nature/environment, its effects on the environment, and so on. I don’t like the idea of cubicles.
Ok, I know this is specific and not all of it can be achieved, at least at first. Nonetheless, I’d like to know if you can direct me to any specific fields/occupation titles dealing with something like this.

Join the Navy. Seriously. They’ll pay for your school train you and provide room and board, and you’ll see the world (especially the desert). Plus it’s honorable and you’ll be my hero!
