Question by Don M: If the Bible has such power, why is there no reference to cars, planes, and other modern technologies?
That is, can the Bible predict or explain things/events in modern times?

Because it was written by man and not a god

Because it doesn’t teach about instant gratification and depravity.

Vaguely. Enough that people buy the prophecies as such.

The bedrock of the Bible is that it DOESNT attempt to prove itself out. The last thing God wants to do is prove His self out to those that have chosen not to believe in Him by choice.
God bless you.
1 Corinthians 1
21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. 22Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, 23but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles(non Jews),
Matthew 11:25
At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children.
2 Corinthians 4:4
The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
Luke 8
9 His disciples asked him what this parable meant. 10 He said, “The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to others I speak in parables, so that,
“though seeing, they may not see; though hearing, they may not understand.’
John 1:5
The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.
2 Thess 2
9The coming of the lawless one(anti Christ) will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, 10and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They(unbelievers) perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie 12and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.
Thank you for your interest in the bible. Feel free to ask anything you want in your quest for truth. God bless you.

The Bible includes what is important, evidently our cars and stuff doesn’t matter that much.

It’s main message is in regards to one’s need for Christ. I’m intrigued how you think predicting the internal combustion engine is required for that purpose.

Wouldn’t that have been irrelevant and confusing to bronze age people?

because those things don’t matter. We could still live without them.

Whenever a book is written it is written with a certain purpose and message to get across to the reader. You could ask why the Bible doesn’t say anything on a million other subjects but if it did the book would be so big it would be a mile high. The Bible is a message from God to man to tell about God and about man and about their relationship throughout history and the future.

Yes it can.
God knew how the world would be
and for how much more it would involve more sinful things for a world to hold,
and how much easier Satan can get away with sin with all the new technology today.
It may have not said anything about these things we have now back then,
but the world worsens as the heavier impact technology weighs on our shoulders.

God created mankind with “fairly” relatively intelligent brains and he gave us free will to do with them what we chose. Just as they made different types of advancements in the Bible’s era, today we do the same.

Those things are irrelevant to the Bible’s message.
But, the Bible does mention scientific facts that were not known at the time it was written. Just Google “Bible Scientific Foreknowledge.”

The bible serves one function in your life but a person’s life has many functions and must be served through many different means…
The bible teaches morality, the purpose of life, and how to control destiny
If you want to learn to build planes you will need to open up a library book or a textbook.

There are a lot of things greater that cars, planes, etc, that we cannot explain described in the Bible. Why would you want to learn of even greater things.

That is so important to you…for what? It has many other predictions about our times. Maybe that isn’t so important to mention compared to the things that are happening and going to happen!

There was no need to tell about such things so much
However, yes, the Bible tells many things that are happening now, and in the future.
In fact the deeper the logic of rightly distinguished scripture is at someone’s attention on any particular subject matter in it, the more it makes evident to them in detail about pretty much anything at all that is true about it.

The Bible is not for materialistic things or for man made objects. It was give to us for Spiritual Guidance. There is power in the word of God: words of life, love, grace, hope, faith, prosperity, and words to fighting off evil. And yes it can explain things that are taking place now. It is written. You can start out be reading the New Testament http://quod.lib.umich.edu/cgi/k/kjv/kjv-idx?type=DIV1

If it would have had those things, People several hundred years ago would never believe it and it wouldn’t be around today.
