Well, light interference is used in such practical applications as the interferometer, for measuring distances measured in wavelengths of light. As well, light interference is used in the coating of windows and other materials to determine the exact thickness of coating that maximizes or minimizes the reflection or transmittance of light. When dealing with sound, there are certain types of headphones and other things that use the interference of sound waves to cancel out environmental noise.
