I think both are good… I ended up doing Digital Design (which is like a cross between traditional graphic design and computer graphics).
If you think you would be happy doing either, here’s an easy way to decide:
• Do a job search for each (see what has the best and most opportunities)
• Check the average salary for each field.

Wed design by it’s nature does lend itself a little better to freelancing, so it that interests you, it’s worth considering.
If you really want to be smart about it… focus on one but sneak in as many classes from the other area as possible, ideally getting a minor or certificate in the secondary area. That will make you more prepared and also more appealing to potential employers.

I think its good to know both. Know as much as you can and I would prob go into web developement.
But it depends on how the program is? are they 2 seperate programs and you have to decide on only one?

Graphic design is mostly concerned with communicating the message or purpose for a particular set of implementations (e.g. advertising, letterhead, signage, or even web), whereas web development is mostly concerned with implementations of a message or purpose that can use graphic design. That’s a bit simplistic, and there is plenty of overlap between the two.
Web development is a catch-all label though. It could just mean the finished presentation, as in you create the graphics and HTML templates for a web app to serve, or you could just be focused on writing code in an application framework that emits HTML that someone else maintains.
To be blunt, your choices amount to asking: do you want to draw or do you want to code?
Good all-round web developers tend to have good design sense or technical illustration capabilities along with coding abilities. So if you can do both, you’re valuable in both spaces, and more valuable than competition in either.
