I don’t think such a thing has ever been done. If it has, it would almost certainly be in Iceland. Making hydrogen fuel cells is not practical for most of the world to attempt, because of the significan amount of energy required to produce them. Iceland has been able to make some Hydrogen powered cars, however, using Geo-thermal energy to produce them. I have only heard of automobiles running off of the fuel cells, but I suppose it is possible that it has been used in other ways, as well.

You can make hydrogen from methane (natural gas) and use it to create heat 65% and electricity 35%.
the problem with using hydrogen from water is that you get less energy out than you put in when you split the water molecule.
