Many companies look for the experiences you have in the field but they also look at your degrees and your classes you took to get to this degree.
This is what I am doing right now is getting my BS in Information Technology and majoring in Web Development and Designing. My minor is in Botany so that I can have something else to fall upon if that become necessary to have another avenue. I do not think however that one who designs web pages will go away anytime soon so I would minor in say programming so that you will be able to have that to fall upon when you look for a job.

It can open doors. Instead of working on web development since there are a million people doing it, focus on applications development for security purposes. These jobs are still here in the U.S. and it is a growing field.

Yes, I think so. Choosing a college is the key. Employers now a days wants graduates from top schools. Inaddition, you have to show the prospective employer that you are creative, organized, and critical thinker. In order to achieve those skills getting into a good school is the key.
