More than likely what’s happening is the robot does have a vision system that allows it to recognise pictures. And for each picture there is an associated action which it must perform.
An ok step forward, but not so much a step in the right direction for AI, but a great example of visual recognition software.
Maybe you could have it recognise objects and perform actions on them? Like, if it finds a bottle cap, grab it up and put it in basket for you.

have you seen the search and rescue bot? It doesn’t follow commands, but a beacon signal. It’s unbelievably agile and makes decisions based on mathematical calculations. I think you can type in “search and rescue robot” and see it… be warned, it’s movements creep out some people.
