Question by SquidbillyReturns: Will this be part of Obama’s new energy plan? This sounds AMAZING, after reading it do you think this is a real possibility and how many jobs world wide could it create? Since the U.S. Government funded the initial research wouldn’t it strengthen the country economically and as well as make the

I find it very tremendously interesting how everything in the universe, even us, and all matter is all pretty much made up of energy, condensed and compact, fully palpable and tangible energy, to me thats awesome, it truly does change your whole outlook on

Question by somber_pieces: Which renewable energy form has the least amount of negative impact on the envioronment? Solar is nice, but how much energy & chemicals are used to make the solar panels. Geothermal is nice too, except along with the steam comes the other nasty byproducts that come up with the steam, depending upon

Question by bob d: questions about atomic energy? I’m wondering about multiple things. atomic questions———————————- 1.When it comes to atomic energy,it seams like the media demonizes atomic energy,is that true? 2.Did the Chernobyl incident “happen” due to the disabled safety features? 3.Did the power plant had a containment “dome”,like all power-plants today? 4.Why does the

A hybrid car needs gas to power the batteries so it isn’t plugged in at the end of the day. Also, the power generated by wind and solar energy isn’t nearly as much as is generated by the other sources out there.

We have invested 100′s of Billions in those programs already, and they are still 10 years away from being viable.

Yes, it could.
And it would have the same effect as the rest of the hundreds of billions of dollars worth of subsidies and research grants we have given the alternative energy advocates. Nothing.
Alternative energy has promising us a great deal for 30 years and never delivered on those promises. Why should we believe them now?

We could but then the people who contribute to Republican campaigns would be angry because it would cut into their record profits.

Millions of dollars have been sunk into alternative sources for half a decade and we haven’t advanced much in 50 years. It’s a sink hole and still isn’t practical. Maybe oil companies do get a tax break, but did you know that the US government makes more in taxes off those same companies than they make in profit? Grow up.

Fair question. Let’s say that there are 100 million households in the USA, just to use round numbers. That’s $ 40 per household. So it’s not enough for a private individual to do much.
It wouldn’t be equitable to decide just to give this amount of money to one company or another to build wind or solar, so it would likely be awarded in the form of other tax breaks – possibly helpful. If one could get past the oil lobby.
On the other hand, let’s use a round number and assume that the Iraq war costs $ 4 trillion over its course. That’s $ 40,000 per household, more than enough to buy solar panels to cover the roof of every household (but not every business), and have a surplus of electricity, which would help to power plug-in hybrids. There are real-life reasons why this wouldn’t happen, but it illustrates the magnitude of the numbers.
