Why can’t I find a good job despite having two degrees?
Question by Michele: Why can’t I find a good job despite having two degrees?
I have an AAS in Electronics and a BS in Business, but not much paid management experience. I tried going for management jobs in electronics or technology or manufacturing to no avail. On my resumes and applications, I only list the necessary education for the job.

Why not try applying for an entry level position instead and then work your way up quickly. If the company already knows you you will have a much better chance.

You’ve explained your own problem. You have no management experience. Managers need to manage. If you’ve never managed, you need to manage. Simple. Begin with a first-line management job and get some experience!

Companies look at experience as well as your college achievements. Maybe emphasize your experiences in the workforce as much or more than putting emphasis on your degrees. Be sure not to talk about your degrees or college too much but, your personal goals so the HR person knows you are a good fit for the company’s particular culture.
Networking is also a good way to find a job quickly because it can sometimes help cut through the red tape.

You did state your own problem.
1) You have no management experience. Management is not about education, it is about managing and it usually involves people and how do you deal with people. The best and most talented worker in the world can be a very bad manager.
2) You also said you only list necessary education for the job. Personally, I will take an experience person with not much education to do a job over someone who just have the education. The education only say that you are qualified to do the job, not that you are able to do the job. Listing your experience actually lets me know that you have done the job and are very much able to do so.
If you cannot find a management job, try working entry level and then, volunteer for management assignment. Think of anything that you can do where you manage the people that you want to be managing. If your aspirations is to be a manager in an engineering department and you are working there as a professional, volunteer/seek assignments where you manage your colleague.
Hey, management is not what it all seems. I know a lot of people who prefer to have a little less paycheck for the much less stress of not being a manager.

Perhaps it is because there are a zillion other people with the same degree’s.
If you want the edge over everyone else you have to be different.
