Would a Christian god approve of modern technology? ?
Jesus was sent during the Roman Empire. Was this what God thought to be more or less the standard technology forever? I know many of you will say God is all knowing of the past, present, and future, however I do not believe this. Is it possible that God did not foresee inventions such as electricity and nuclear power? God seems to work only with biological matter only and the Earth appears to be for our use. God never built a nonliving machine. Would he disapprove of any or all of our electronic inventions? I can’t help but believe that Jesus was sent in a time period that was supposed to reflect how civilization would be forever. It is extremely difficult to follow the instructions of someone who to us is quite detached from our modern way of life. If Jesus was in the world today, would he drive a car? Would he try to fit in our society? I know these are tough questions, but I’m only looking for onions here so please tell me what you think about any of these issues.

NO—-it’s much to complex—-lust and sin have been further multiplied with each new creation—-take the camera–for example–

The Bible says in Revelation that the whole world will be watching all at once, or something like that. It’s talking about the television I’m pretty sure.

What’s wrong with modern Technology?

Actually cars were prophesied in the Bible thousands of years ago. The Bible says that in the end times we will have cars.
Nahum 2:4
The chariots race madly through the streets;they rush to and fro through the squares;they gleam like torches;they dart like lightning.

No onions from me, but here is my opinion. God sent Jesus at just the right time to accomplish His will. There was (is) a plan (a method0 to God acting the way he did, when He did.
As to what if God were to come as Jesus today? I think He would embrace technology. I think, through His people (the church) He has embraced technology today. God’s people have always used the technology available to them (carts, animal power, tools, even weaponry). Why should we be any different today.
Technology is neither good nor evil. How we as man uses technology is a different story.
Thanks for a good question.

our modern conveniences and machinery and gadgets are not things God is concerned with. The condition of man’s heart He IS concerned with, and that really hasn’t changed much over the years. We may be a little smarter nowadays about how to harness what God placed here on the earth for us to enjoy and make our lives easier, but people throughout the Bible struggle with the same things that we all still struggle with today. Not much is that way has changed much.
God cares about your heart, not your stuff, and not your intellect. And certainly not your gadgets. We’ve only scratched the surface of what all God has done on (and in) the Earth.
He wants your heart.

He does exist.
God knew what He was doing when He sent His Son to earth during the Roman Age. It is my belief the God approves of technology when it’s used appropriately. I don’t mean watching porn on the internet, I mean looking for answers, kind of like this site allows. Technology is a tool, just like a hammer, it can be used to build something, or destroy it.

God is not confused- you are.
You forget that the OT was written over a period of about 1600 years. Do you actually think that there were no technological changes in that long period of time.
If Jesus said -’go and preach the gospel’. To those living back in 30 a.d., it meant walk, or ride a camel, today it may ,mean ride the bus or airplane. The context is -go preach- not how you get there.

We have followers of Christ that probably is enjoying the most modern technology backed up lifestyle more than you do I suppose.
Horse during the Roman Empire would probably be the Toyota’s equivalent and when Jesus was riding a donkey, he probably will be driving an open top jeepney today.
God never build anything for man except all the resources He left on earth as men’s resources for his own advancements. You probably were not aware or was heavily sleeping when He gave intelligence to people whom He expects to enjoy life by using the gift as his tools for this progress.
