There’s really no difference, besides you won’t get to get security clearance with a green card, you need citizenship.
Most IT fields, however, require some sort of security clearance. So if you’re looking into something like IT and not infantry, you’d be better waiting until you’re a full citizen and not just permanent resident.

Why don’t you use your education to benefit your own country? Do you really want to be the tool of an amoral imperialist aggressor that cares only about taking resources from other countries? Besides. 72 is not a very good score. Why not go help some corporation become more mediocre instead of helping the US Army become moreso?

it is up to you, but to join does not strengthen your case initially.
understand that being in the military is a position of service and if you desire to give back to a country you are in, that is a very good way to do it.
having been born here and now working on 100 years it seems like with the military, (iraq was my last overseas service) I just tell people to be serious about the military or don’t join up.
I have a good friend who plays, joined and hates it. Why? she was bored and was looking to meet guys, you don’t do that in boot camp and AIT.
good luck to you and stick it out, 20 years flys by, 30 will quickly end and you get full retirement. The duty has not been bad, though i would have preferred to have somewhat better conditions on occassion. I loved being at FOB’s. I hate being in the rear with the gear.

I don’t know where your from,but generally you will be treated better than other foreignerss if you are US forces.many americans think that most foreigners are just leeching off our country.When you are military,it says you care enough about ths country to put your life on the line for it.that gains respect from most americans eventhe anti-war palookas.I’m not sure about the detail work,but it looks good the immigration people if ou want to go into service.

From my personal experience I can tell you that it is best to go in as a citizen. You will face many limitations as a Permanent Resident. Many ratings or MOS require citizenship, espcially IT ratings. Besides you cannot become a military officer if you are not a US citizen. Nor can you ascend above E5 if you are not a citizen.
You have the education. Wait. Become a citizen and serve
our nation to the maximum of your potential…as an Officer in the US Army.
Please do not believe your recruiter if he or she says that the Army will get your citizenship after a year’s service (or any length of time for that matter)…that is false. Denounce him or her if he or she promises that.

AFQT Scores are divided into the following categories:
Category I – 93-99
Category II- 65-92
Category IIIA – 60-64
Category IIIB – 31-59
Category IVA – 28-30
Category IVB – 16-25
Category IVC – 6-15
Category V – 0-5
You should do better much better than average. Category IVA and below are worrisome.
