30 min. presentation topics…?
i’m a freshman student and in our english class we are required to teach the class one friday out of the year. my day is may 14, and we must choose a current events topic. there are no strict guidelines, but i need to be able to capture and keep the attention of 28 fourteen and fifteen year olds for a MINIMUM of 30 minutes, one class period is 50 minutes.
i have narrowed down my topics, but not by much, and i’m not 100% thrilled and/or interested by these ideas that i have:
~green technology/energy (more specifically in Germany)
~nuclear warfare
~child labor (however one student already did sex trafficking….)
~condition of jails in the u.s.
~the american diet (someone also did obesity in the u.s….)
if anyone has any more intriguing ideas that could be spoken for at least 30 mins and still be interesting, i would love to know. i have debated these ideas with my parents, but i don’t think they understand that i need to relate to fourteen and fifteen year olds for 30 minutes…. thank you!

I think maybe try an English class with the theme will the music of today be the poetry we learn in school in 100 years time. You can compare todays song lyrics with the poetry you are learning in school today. You will get to play music in class which will take up time and maybe ask the classses opinion have they come across songs which they think could be thought as poetry today. Ask them to look for other meanings in songs as teachers ask to do with poet you are learning now.
